  We shared a hostel room for four years and a single kettle. Ebe was the one who said, 'Let us study first, then eat.' We did both, always. I cannot put into words how much I will miss her and her tiny, ferocious spreadsheets.

  My parents danced at their own wedding to the Coal City Rhythm Kings in 1983. When I played them a recording last year they cried and danced in the kitchen in Georgia. A whole generation of Enugu's diaspora grew up on his rhythm.
