  Family friend

Professor Kato was the one who got the praise, but everybody on that street knew who was boss. Maama Rose could end a debate with a single raised eyebrow. They were the best double act in Ntinda, and I miss them both.

Former student, now at the Bank of Uganda

Prof. Kato never gave the answer. He gave the next question. I took his course in 1998, and I still use that technique every day when briefing the Governor. Our graduating class gave him a blackboard with 'Why?' on it. He kept it in his study.
