  Former colleague of his father at Samsung

  His father kept the Dong-A Ilbo clipping in a drawer at the plant and showed it to me once, quietly, when no one was looking. At Jae-won's funeral I told his mother, and she said, 'He knew.' Both of them were so good at silent love.

  In 1996 our line went down for thirty-one hours. Director Choi stayed, took off his jacket and cleaned the equipment beside us. He never mentioned it again. When we restarted he bowed to the whole shift. I have tried to manage like that ever since.
